Master Shahram Nazeri and his son, a young composer,
Hafez Nazeri premiered an anticipated U.S. tour with the
New York show presented by World Music Institute in Town
hall on the 20th of November, 2005.
With great successes of other musicians in the
past , clearing the path for Persian music to be
heard by wider audiences in the world , Nazeris
take a big step to attract younger generation of
listeners on an international level. Hoping one
day Persian music has more international
followers , the music of Nazeris will
move Persian music one step closer to the world
music.
The New York concert was followed by LA concert at
The Kodak Theater with the largest audience in the
history of Persian traditional music. Getting
appreciation awards from United Nations for
innovation and creativity in world music, they were
imitated by the United Nations to perform at the
city hall in Irvine and were awarded by Mayor and
the Council members of Irvine, California and
K.A.E.S.
Their sold out show in San Francisco and positive
reviews in influential magazines and newspapers such
as the San Francisco Chronicle , Hafez was
interviewed in K.P F.K , U.C. BERKLEY RADIO, and
WNYC (NPR in New York).
When in San Diego, they had yet another great
experience with a large audience , the majority
being younger generation than expected for their
genre of music. In addition to that the Mayor and
Chairman of the San Diego Board of
Supervisors declared the day of the concert,
February 25th as "SHAHRAM AND HAFEZ NAZERI DAY".
Their concert in Atlanta had the largest
audience ever for Persian traditional music in that
city. Again the majority of the audience were
younger than expected. Another success in Atlanta
was the live interview and performance on Fox 5
channel on Good Day Atlanta program and also
their conference at Emory university .
Most importantly after Their Washington D.C sold
out concert and receiving recognition awards
from the congress of the U.S. They were invited for
a lecture in Harvard University and received awards
for introducing Rumi to the west and innovation in
Persian music.
HAFEZ will be interviewed on
CNN LIVE FROM in Atlanta on Wednesday 29th of
March between 2:30-3pm to talk about In the Path of
Rumi and his future project.
